About FME Diesel inverter POwer Generators

The Brakthrough

In 2010, inverter technology had already changed the game for portable power. Clean electricity, stable frequencies, safe operation for sensitive electronics – all of this was possible. But only with gasoline.
Diesel generators were powerful, economical, and built for endurance. Yet they lacked the precision of inverter technology. The market offered a simple choice: clean power or long runtime. Efficiency or economy. You couldn't have both.
FME refused to accept that limitation.
In 2010, we introduced the FME XG-SF 5600D – the first diesel inverter generator in its class. It wasn't just a new product. It was a statement: the boundaries of what's possible are only as real as we allow them to be.
With 5.5 kW of peak power, electric start, and radio remote control, the XG-SF 5600D combined everything users loved about diesel – low fuel costs, the option to run on heating oil, extended runtime – with everything they needed from an inverter: a pure sine wave output that protects even the most sensitive equipment.
The response was overwhelming. The 5600D became a bestseller and shaped the identity of FME for years to come.

Why Diesel? Why Inverter?

Diesel generators have always been the workhorse of the power generation world. They run longer, consume less fuel, and can legally operate on heating oil in many regions – dramatically reducing operating costs. For anyone who needs reliable power over extended periods, diesel is the logical choice.
But traditional diesel generators come with a trade-off. Their output isn't always clean. Voltage spikes and frequency fluctuations can damage sensitive electronics – computers, medical devices, communication equipment. For applications that demand precision, conventional diesel generators simply weren't good enough.
Inverter technology solves this problem. By converting the generated power into a stable, pure sine wave, inverter generators deliver electricity that matches grid quality. The result: safe operation for any device, from a smartphone to a server.
Combining diesel with inverter technology was an engineering challenge. FME was the first to solve it at this scale – and we've been refining the solution ever since.

Evolution: The FME XG-SF 5600D Carbon

Innovation doesn't stop at the first breakthrough. In 2024, we introduced the FME XG-SF 5600D Carbon – the next evolution of our original diesel inverter.
The fundamentals remain: 5.0 kW continuous power, 5.5 kW peak output, pure sine wave technology, and full compatibility with both diesel and heating oil. But the Carbon takes everything further.
A larger 15-liter tank extends runtime to an impressive 22 hours on a single fill. The integrated ECO mode automatically adjusts engine speed to match actual demand, reducing fuel consumption and noise. At just 62 dB(A) measured at 7 meters, the 5600D Carbon operates quietly enough for residential use – a remarkable achievement for a diesel generator of this output class.
The addition of an integrated ATS input makes professional installation as a home backup system straightforward. Combined with the electric start and dual remote controls, the Carbon is designed for users who expect performance without compromise.

A new Dimension: The FME 8000id-sp

In 2023, FME once again pushed the boundaries of what diesel inverter generators can do. The result: the FME 8000iD-SP.
The "SP" stands for Same Power – and it represents a genuine innovation in generator technology.
Most generators that offer both 230V and 400V output have a critical limitation: the power available depends on which outlet you use. Draw from one, and the other is restricted. This creates problems for users who need flexibility – and it's a constant source of frustration on job sites, at events, and in emergency backup scenarios.
The FME 8000iD-SP eliminates this problem entirely. Thanks to two completely independent electrical circuits, this generator delivers its full 8.0 kW output on both the 230V and the 400V connection. Single-phase or three-phase – you get the same power, the same reliability, the same clean inverter-regulated electricity.
This capability, combined with 100% unbalanced load tolerance, makes the 8000iD-SP one of the most versatile diesel inverter generators available. It handles asymmetric loads without flinching – a technical requirement that many generators fail to meet.
Additional features include an integrated ATS input for automated backup power switching, an optional CO shutoff for enhanced safety, and a lithium-ion starter battery for reliable ignition even in demanding conditions. The 15-liter tank provides up to 18 hours of continuous operation.
For industrial applications, construction sites, events, and demanding home backup systems, the 8000iD-SP sets a new standard.

The diesel advantage

Choosing a diesel inverter generator is a decision driven by practicality.
Diesel fuel is widely available and, in many situations, more economical than gasoline. In extended outages or remote locations, this matters. The ability to run on heating oil – legally permitted in stationary applications in many countries – reduces operating costs even further.
Diesel engines are built for endurance. They tolerate sustained loads and long runtimes better than their gasoline counterparts. When you need power not for hours, but for days, diesel is the answer.
And with FME's inverter technology, you no longer sacrifice power quality for these advantages. Every watt delivered is clean, stable, and safe for your most sensitive equipment.

The FME Diesel Inverter Lineup

FME offers two diesel inverter models, each designed for specific requirements.
The FME XG-SF 5600D Carbon is the refined successor to our groundbreaking original. With 5.0 kW continuous output, 22-hour runtime, whisper-quiet operation, and integrated ATS input, it's the ideal choice for home emergency backup, yachts, and mobile applications where reliable single-phase power is required.
The FME 8000iD-SP is built for those who need more – more power, more flexibility, more capability. Its Same Power technology delivers 8.0 kW on both 230V and 400V, making it the first choice for demanding professional applications, from construction sites to event production to comprehensive home backup systems.
Both models share FME's commitment to quality: pure sine wave output, robust construction, diesel and heating oil compatibility, and the engineering expertise that comes from nearly two decades of innovation.

Proven Performance

When FME introduced the first diesel inverter generator in 2010, we didn't just launch a product. We opened a new category. Since then, thousands of users have relied on FME diesel inverters – in homes, on boats, at festivals, on construction sites, and in critical infrastructure.
The technology has evolved. The commitment remains the same: to deliver reliable, innovative, and efficient power solutions that meet real-world demands.
